500th Cartoon!

Today is my 500th Savage Chickens cartoon! So I thought I’d celebrate by drawing 500 chickens on a sticky note. (Actually it’s a megasticky note.)

Thanks for sharing your wonderfully skewed chicken-ness with us, Doug. I can live a long and happy life knowing that at least one other person in this world finds chickens as oddly endearing and wacky as I do… and apparently, there are many manny others as well. Keep up the good work!

This is really my favorite web comic. If you consider printing a book (gasp dead tree) I am in. I don’t know if many people appreciate the web comic the way the techies do, so I would love to share this with some of my friends and family that would appreciate the wit of these chickens.

I printed out the roomful of chickens and plan on making of them a jigsaw puzzle for the jigsaw junkies on the Fourth Floor of this old folks’ home. We’re right now working on a 3000-piece second-hand (so we can’t know for sure if all pieces are present)one.

Wow thanks everybody! you people are amazing. thanks for all the great comments and emails! I’m so glad to hear that so many of you look forward to the chickens every morning.
ZAZ asked how long it took me to draw this one. well, i worked on it on and off all week - i guess it was about 5 hours altogether. I had to take breaks every 20 minutes or so to keep from going blind - and towards the end i was really worried i would accidentally spill my rum ‘n’ eggnog on it and have to start over.
thayerpg asked about chickens with angry eyes - there are a few of them in there - look close to the bottom. And other readers are having trouble finding Mr. Stinky - here’s a hint: he’s in the right half of the cartoon.

OK, “Mr Stnky is in the right half of the cartoon” isn’t enough of a hint for me. Still can’t find him. Is he above or below the worm? Did he grow a beak? Is his tail shown? Paws shown? haha, yeah right, like Mr Stinky has any paws left… Maybe he’s wearing deodorant and is therefore less noticeable…?
heheh okay here’s a better hint: Mr. Stinky is within a 5-chicken radius of the penguin!

I’ve laughed, I’ve cried because I’ve laughed so hard, and sometimes I’ve had people come up to me and ask, “What’s wrong?” because I’ve had my head down on the computer keyboard, gasping for air. It moves me, Doug. The chickens are awesome.
