I always thought the button provided better breathing than a carrot, after all, a button has holes for nostrils.
But in terms of fashion, ya gotta have a carrot, whether you can breath or not. Only carrots look right with the silk top hat and eyes made of coal (and just where do you find coal in a suburban yard?)
