lol, that’s about right. luckily, we don’t have common house spiders here in the UK. : )
Ahhh that’s easy to classify.
Are you in Australia?
No: Common House Spider
Yes: Flesh-Eating Death Spider
Yes, all spiders in Australia are Flesh-Eating Death Spiders.
Simon, I hope all the flesh-eating death spiders then moved to Australia…visiting South Africa now and every day doing exactly what the strip says!
Tough times for an arachnophobe coming from Arctic circle where all spiders are common house spiders…
Your chicken should worry that it might be
The Goliath Birdeater (Theraphosa blondi).
There are no cartoonist-eating spiders. Although a mad geneticist who was once lampooned in “Dilbert” is working on it…
haha, nice, i think i’ve had that same thing happen and couldn’t tell if we had a brown recluse or just a house spider! funny stuff
I ran across this problem too. The brown recluse and a more common “hobo” spider (at least in my area) look identical unless you’re looking at them through a magnifying glass…
A true arachnophobe wouldn’t keep drawing spiders says the true arachnophile.
They all look the same squished in a tissue.
My best solution to a spider is to find a chicken to eat it!
Um, yes, they do all look the same squished in a tissue. However, that’s entirely too close.
Fortunately, I don’t live in Australia.
Unfortunately, I live in Texas, which is essentially the same thing.
Must print this one off for my man… and make him scream!
@ClinTX: Yeah, the camel spiders are there. They’ve moved from the Middle East through camels the Army brought home 😉
Yeah, I’ve been here before. Looking up brown recluse vs hobo spider (GA, USA)
You forgot the *F’ING MUTANT HUGE* form of these. That’s what we have F’ing Mutant Huge house spiders and F’ing Mutant Huge flesh eating spiders. I have no idea why we have them in mutant size here but when the exterminator came out he didn’t believe me and told me spiders didn’t get that big, then he seen one of them – and it was a “small” one – and it scared the crap out of him. Oh yea, spiders should not get that big.
I clap on clap off the spider that get no chance to feel the hurt, they be dead. And I am environmentally aware by not using up facial tissue for one little itsy bitsy. I also think that spiders have an auto-immune system that makes them go faster when kleenix dust hits the air. Boris the Spider he ain’t no more.
I read in the Sun a while back that the West Coast is the worst place to live if you don’t like spiders — when outside, you’re apparently no more than 3 m from a spider at any given time. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between my computer and bathroom invaders in late August — common house spider, or hobo spider? House spider, or hobo spider? House spider, or…
This is classic. I DID this literally a few months ago. The chicken has it spot on!
@Mike, @killerofthesky, and @Josh: the brown recluse is also my nemesis! Damn things!
I often wonder/worry about this. Perfect. 🙂
