You forgot “groin hits” under Humorous Elements. 🙂 I still love this cartoon, though. Nice work, Doug!

For a minute there I thought there weren’t going to be any chickens.

  7. Seraphine says:

i think rubber poop and/or rubber vomit should be added to the four humerous elements. they are funnier than banana peels.
banana peels are rather old school; they went out of style in the 1970s, along with squirting flowers and the fake nickle nailed into street.

Solid. It doesn’t make me laugh, but it makes me point at it and say, “This. This needed to be written and illustrated. The world is now a better place.”

Earth, Wind, and Fire, like The Average White Band pretty much went out in the 70’s too, but every now and then they are essental for a good disco stu break. I get to pull out the ultra wide bell bottoms, the high steppin’ dancin’ shoes, 100% rayon shirt with extra wide extra long collar, rainbow afro wig, mirrored elvis shades, and gold laminanted puca shell necklace. “Baby, it’s all good.”

  11. samuel says:

but how do you tell black bile apart from blood?

  12. Doug says:

@samuel: blood is thicker than black bile!

hmmm now that I look at this cartoon again, I think the four humorous elements might actually work as basic elements of comedy: embarrassment (farts), schadenfreude (banana peel), slapstick (cream pie), and absurdity (rubber chicken)!

    Nice one, Doug. 🙂

  14. Felicity says:

Is this the first time you have depicted a rubber chicken in Savage Chickens? I am a big fan of both the rubbery and feathery variety. 😀

  15. Capt. Obvious says:

It’s hard to draw a fart…why does the cloud get a happy face, and not the fart? I always feel much better, personally.

  16. Doug says:

@Capt. Obvious: sometimes I draw farts with skulls floating in them. Cutest fart drawing I’ve ever seen is from Kawaii Not!

  17. kristina says:

So would poop fall under embarrassment, schadenfreude, slapstick or absurdity?
