Although here Doug might be using its literal Yiddish meaning, which is "Little Doll". That is, the T-Rex might be seeing the chicken as a dolly, in much the same way a child sees a barbie doll.

At least, that's what the interweb tells me. I'm not jewish, so I'm relying on outside info here.

Doug - I know that if you have to explain the joke it ain't funny, but for us non-hebrew speakers can you clarify the meaning?

I have to admit to finding the cartoon funny even without knowing what Bubeleh meant (there's just something delightfully incongruent about the meeting between TR and SC (Savage Chicken)), but with the explanations I love the joke all the more!
