The orchestra pit is a veritable minefield for those not in the know!
ummmmmm….ok?!?
Glockenspiel… tehe..
My resident percussionist thanks you for making the public aware of the dangers of misidentified musical instruments! You cannot imagine how many lives would have been saved had this information been released sooner!
Now, where does the bell-lyre fall in that series?
LOL!! Thanks for the life-saving info, Doug. If random trivia could save lives, I’d be some kind of superhero.
You forgot one. Baby back rib bone, lol. it kinda fits in
or the Robert Reed ribophon
Semantics! 😛
“Hey, your Vibraphone is in my Glockenspiel!”
“Well, your Glockenspiel is in my Vibraphone!!!”
What about the Celesta?
Mwha ha ha. Love it Minijonb.
Eh? Where were the Chickens in all these?
Oh I know! They must be having a STRIKE with all these instruments around!!! 😛
yes! thank you . i have a few of those in my basemeng, actually…
Thank you for this! you have no idea how many people don’t even know what a marimba is. It’s nice to see people make fun of these percusion challenged people
Well I didn’t know what a lot of those were, Thank you for this cartoon Doug, my future was bleak & uncertain. I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see 🙂
I appreciate this too. I never admit it but as a percussionist, I do get slightly annoyed when people call the glockenspiel a marimba or a xylophone.
brilliant
this is ironic because most of those are actually wrong… the vibraphone and a couple others are upside down, and I’ve never seen a marimba called the marimbaphone…
the difference between a xylophone and a glockenspiel is that a xylophone has wooden bars, while the glockenspiel has metal bars, but i don’t think that difference is obvious in your drawing :S
