    What’s ‘ennui?’
And isn’t this contradictory since zombies don’t have brains to have emotions? Unless that’s the whole point of this one…

  2. Morbo says:

There were some that felt Dr Ekman wasted the grant money.

  3. jo says:

ennui is french for boredom ^^

  4. ria says:

@Aud: ennui – excessive boredom… and yesy that’s the whole point

  5. CMunk says:

    Wikipedia always has the answer:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ennui

  6. CMunk says:

And by the way I don’t want to run into one of those angry zombies.

  7. Dan says:

    ennui – noun

a feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from a lack of occupation or excitement.

  8. Jeff says:

Dr Ekman is a genius, he has discovered that zombies (or life & brain challenged beings as they like to be called) exhibit all 7 emotions at the same time.

  9. Mike T says:

Ennui is a word meaning general lack of interest or boredom, or depression. It may also refer to oppressive boredom. It refers to a state of being rather than a passing mood as is generally the case with “boredom”. In this case this would be a bored zombie, brains, brains …

  10. Cristina says:

Hahaha! I know some people who exhibit the same emotions with the same expressions! Love this one!

  11. Justin says:

Ennui: “A feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom: The endless lecture produced an unbearable ennui.”

Wikipedia also adds that this is more a state of being as opposed to just a passing mood…

  12. nmrboy says:

take a look at that last chicken’s expression; now that’s ennui. says it all, really. and given their emotional range, it’s surprising we don’t see more zombie chickens in action movies.

  13. Capt. Obvious says:

That Dr. Ekman, always screwing me out of the cash to study really obvious stuff! He’s a charlatan, I tell you, everyone knows zombies feel only hunger (when looking for brains) and happiness (when feeding on brains).
Oops, just screwed myself out of the money for the counter-study!

  14. teli says:

the first “o” looks like a heart.. and i think dr. ekman did a great job with all the grant money. who would have guessed except him?

  15. neuro says:

Wow – Paul Ekman shows up in a Savage Chickens cartoon! I’m impressed with Doug’s breadth of of knowledge. Who next? John Alexander (the military officer who George Clooney’s character is based on in the upcoming film “The Men Who Stare At Goats”)? Peter Carroll (founder of Chaos Magick and renegade physicist and proponent of multi-dimensional time)? Totoro (Japanese icon and “keeper of the forest” in Hayao Miyazaki films)?

  16. Kurt says:

  18. Corey Abernathy says:

I think the true expressions of the zombies are shown by the shape of the scars. every scar looks different. A clue of the inner workings of the zombie minds!

  19. Gaia says:

    Politicians have these expressions!
    Hugs from Brazil

  20. Gala says:
