lol, i remember 1984, Van Halen released Jump, I was wearing short trousers and Torvill and Dean won gold for the Boléro. (I was 12 at the time.)
I had to wait a whole year before Thundercats came along…
: )
nice one doug.
by the way, today is world nutella day!
Good one! I’m old enough to remember the real 1984. Madonna’s debut on American Bandstand was that year, I think, and I spent lots of time in middle school study hall, trying to figure out why she was such an instant success…? Big Brother would only watch the eighties to get a good laugh, me thinks!
Ha!You have made Ms Zongker’s year, if you don’t know already. Thank you. Chickens eating ice cream…Ha!
mr. orwell was 25 years too early.
big brother is indeed watching everything and everybody today.
(google, and apparently the chinese are watching us too…)
big brother is watching you eat your ice cream. he sees the dribble on your chin.
Reminds me of this: http://www.egodialogues.com/words-language/huxley-orwell.php
As much as I hated Brave New World, and as much as I loved 1984, Huxley was right. Instead of controlling us by inflicting pain, they control us by inflicting pleasure.
I graduated from high school in 1984. (That makes me almost as old as dirt?) Seraphine is right about Orwell being early. We now have GPS, Google Maps/Earth, internet searches (and cookies to see where you have been searching.) Ah well, at least cookies go with icecream.
I was born that Year !!! nothing good came after that year,
@MrBawn , i wish someone would inflict some pleasure on me…
: )
I lived in Czechoslovakia in 1984 and Orwell was right….we definitelly had big brother here…
I was born during the right year for Ice Cream Month..mmmmmm…
I am in Ms. Zongker’s class and she went crazy and had to show us this. haha :].
1984 was a dystopian novel, and therefore an exageration, but it predicted many aspects of our modern society very well. Funny joke though.
Ice cream month, big brother, same difference really…
