Me and my father-in-law have had these sort of discussions over many years.

“marmite” … (or “bovril” at a pinch) 🙂

    “sardine”, “cheese”, “ham”, “coleslaw”

    “radish”, “salt and vinegar” …

conversely we have conversations about bad crisp flavours too 🙂

  8.      About fifteen years back, there was a strange comic strip in the San Francisco Chronicle.  It featured a normal-looking boy, and a somewhat alien-looking man.  The strip ran for only a short while, as I recall.
One strip featured the boy unhappy with his ice cream, and the man saying, When they say spamoni, they mean spamoni!.  I have forgotten all the other strips, but this one has stood the memory-test of time!
I would agree with the boy, I expect, regarding the desirability of the spamoni flavor.

“Spumoni” is a real variety of ice cream, so why is it on the list?  That seems out of place.
Looking for the strip, I see some people have already made spamoni ice cream.  To each his own, I guess!

The Japanese have mostly missed the point of icecream, and you can find some pretty unlikely (and awful) varieties. Click link below if you have a strong stomach …
