I have an interview in 12 hours. Totally using this one!
… maybe not, but still this comic has great timing!
Be sure to follow up on its results! We’re going to stare at you, like Blue Man Group, until you do so! ๐
Do it!
We’re waiting, Jonathan! Even Doug wants to know!
I guess we will never get the results. ๐
Oh wow, this comic made my eyes hurt in sympathy. ๐
The sheer simplicity is why I couldn’t stop laughing. Seriously, brilliant and jusy plain hilarious because the staring just kept on going, and it just made me laugh even more.
Thanks Roh! Glad you liked this! ๐
How long did this take to draw? And did you regret having the idea when you were done? ๐
Heheh yeah no regrets, but it did take a lot longer than I expected! Including drawing, scanning, and clean-up, I think the whole thing took me four and a half hours or so. It took seven 3″ x 5″ post-it notes. Luckily the drawing itself was a fairly simple one to repeat ๐
HAHA! I would use this but… I don’t know how good my stare skills are. I’ll have to work on that =D
Next, wing wrestling!
Is that how that totally unqualified dude became a rocket scientist?
This is the first time I’ve noticed the subtlety of your different beak designs; normally the eyes/eyebrows take central stage in displaying character emotion. Those last three panels in particular. And of course the joke was good, but I’m still processing the unexpected depth I didn’t realize was possessed by illustrations of cartoon chickens.
I’m glad you noticed this! I’m always amazed how slight changes in a line can convey a completely different emotion. When you’re dealing with googly-eyed chickens, every little difference counts! ๐
I wanted to print this out for coworkers but it doesn’t show the whole cartoon on the print preview. ๐
I posted a chopped-up version on tumblr. Maybe that’ll print better? Here it is!
Wait, so if the chicken on the left is wearing a suit, is the chicken on the right … naked?
Imma try THAT at my next interview! ๐
The drawing started the laughter… but John’s comment started the snorting… I can’t be held responsible…
hehe! yeah, try that! XD
“Must not stare at chicken breast”
“Must not stare at chicken breast”
Mmm, chicken breasts.
This one made me laugh out loud!
Also, Doug, what do you do for a living where you can draw chickens having a staring contest all day? Do’t you have work-work?
