Final Moments

Here are more apocalypses.

And a reminder to Vancouver folks: I’ll be at the Carded! art show tomorrow night. You should go too – it looks like fun!

So, if someone were driving down a road where a bridge was out, wouldn’t you tell them?

    • Doug says:

Maybe! But not if the car was a planet, and the bridge was a giant asteroid hurtling towards it. Instead of wandering around with a “Watch out for the asteroid” sign, I’d probably spend my pre-asteroid time with people I care about! 🙂

    • panzi says:

Well, you can stop your car and turn around. These guy are *certain* that the world will end and that there can’t be anything done about it. So not a comparable situation.

  2. Don says:

Wow, that is such a damn obvious rebuttal that I’m surprised in all this time no one, including me, has ever come up with it; that I know of anyway.

Chicken looks like it laid an egg.

On the planet of krypton no one beleive Jor-El until it was too late

I chuckled at the gag; there’s an obvious answer, but it would’ve taken away from the humor. Perhaps two obvious answers; when “the end is near” is in a religious context, the proselytizer believes that after the end there’s a rather lengthy sequel. And when “the end is near” is in the context of warning against carbon emissions or government overreach, the doom prophet typically is trying to warn us to stop breathing or paying taxes. And then there’s the third option, people who just want to get rich(er) off of fear-mongering.

…I’m turning into “one of those people,” leaving serious comments on humorous cartoons. So to make up for it, I’ll tell a questionable joke. A fatalist, a Baptist preacher, and the United States President are discussing the end of the world. The fatalist says “the end of world will happen when it happens, and nothing we can do will change that.” The Baptist preacher says “the end of the world will happen when God wills it, and nothing can stand in His way.” The President says “I bet the world would end a lot faster if I were to push this red button.”

  6. Jackson says:

    Sign at a nudist colony:

“Re-pant, for the end is in sight.”

(Sorry, things were getting a little too thoughtful and erudite, requiring a quick dose of low humor). 😛
