Whoa, planetary humor on a Friday? 😀

Should have gone to Mercury; its day is longer than its year.

    • Ned says:

You’re confused. VENUS’ day is longer than its year, 243 Earth days to 1 Venusian day and 225 Earth days to 1 Venusian year. There are 58 Earth days to a Mercurian day and 88 Earth days to a Mercurian year. So no, Venus has the most hours in a day of any planet in the solar system, not Mercury.

      • Jackson says:

Mercury’s day is longer than it’s year. A Mercurian year is something over 87 days, but it takes 176 Earth days for the Sun to rise, set and rise again to the same place in the sky.

        • Ned says:

…Mercury’s day and year are in a 3:2 resonance, and it takes 176 days for them to match up.

BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT “DAY” MEANS! MERCURY HAS 29 EARTH DAYS OF TIME SPENT FOR ONE SIDE FACING THE SUN WHILE VENUS HAS 122.5!

Go look it up yourself if you aren’t sure.

Why? 240 times the day length compared to only 90 times the pressure!
