We’ve reached a moment in time where facts do not hold the ultimate authority in public discourse. Not funny, but true.
@Jackson — You should have serious skepticism about “facts” reported by interested parties. Their “facts” have a strange habit of aligning with what they want you to believe. I remember not long ago when it was a “fact” that the NSA did not spy on American citizens in the USA.
That applies to science, too. A fair amount of the science that reaches the public is scarcely beyond hypothesis — for example, the purported Planet 9. Then there is the standard practice of exaggerating the practical relevance of any given studies — funding agencies basically demand this. Trust, but verify.
