Don’t forget, that you used to gather around eachother previously as well.
The piano was just the means to do so.
Now it serves as a physical(or no longer physical as it’s not there) reminder of the (good) times together you had.

These comics are really beautiful and helpful. Last week our family got the confirmation that my step-father (who is the best father I’ve ever had) is suffering from dementia. He’s in his early 90’s and over the last couple years has changed drastically from the fighter-pilot/bank VP that I remember, to a frail, forgetful, somewhat confused man who responds to questions with single-word answers. It won’t surprise the family if this is his last year – but his passing will leave an enormous empty space in our lives.
Thanks for sharing this – it helps prepare me for what’s to come.
