The Playoffs

The hockey playoffs have been teaching me all sorts of things about my neighbours. Who knew so many people owned their own air horns?

The Vancouver Canucks have a chance to win their first ever Stanley Cup tonight, so good luck to them!

I’m pulling for Vancouver. It’s a great city and I’d love for them to win the Cup.

    Brooooooons!

There’s an startlingly high saturation of vuvuzelas, too!

    You have my condolences.

    Bruins! Lets go haha

  6. Matt says:

That looks exactly like my neighborhood did when Calgary was so close a few years ago.

  7. Xandra says:

I could have drawn a map almost identical to this when the Flames were in the playoffs! Of course, at the time there were fewer vuvuzelas around and a ridiculous number of “Whooohooo”ers out on the “red mile”.

Looks like some relief is on the way. When that pot cloud reaches the screeching fan, he’ll quiet down. Then he’ll be off to satisfy his munchies.

I can relate. I’m at the corner of Beatty and Dunsmuir. I can deal with the air horns, the vuvuzelas the cheering and the shouting. What gets to me is the pots and pans. It is not a fun noise. It does not make me want to celebrate. It just makes me angry.

I notice you didn’t indicate which house on this map is yours. Or is it just off the map, and the source of one of those pot clouds?

  11. Tom says:

One vuvuzela is one vuvuzela too many!

I like it better when their ice is covered in wood and guys in green, but anyway… Go Bruins!

    Love the comic))
Downtown is really annoying especially the after celebrations part late at night! If the canucks win tonight though…monday’s won’t be hated and downtown will be a big mess afterwards…But Go Canucks GO :))

  14. Raquel says:

    haha! Love it! 🙂

  15. r says:

Awesome, this is exactly what happens 🙂

  16. sam says:

I’m gonna take a wild guess that your house is one of the two that only have one airhorn in it

You know this is unique in that it’s not only chickenless, but it’s also characterless…

    • Doug says:

You’re right! I live across from the screeching person who doesn’t understand hockey. Screeching is bad enough, but if you must screech, please do so at appropriate times (e.g. icing calls = not worth screeching)

  17. Ada says:

But no girls lifting up their shirts at random intervals? Clearly you’re not getting the full experience. 😀

  18. Aud says:

    HA! This is cute.

  19. Pamela says:

Ha-ha! Love it! The Canucks had better win this! 🙂 I am a screeching fan but try to limit the yelling to bad calls. . .okay, who am I kidding?

  20. Jessica says:

    Needs more cowbell!

  21. Dan says:

Go Canucks! Let’s say Burrows gets the winner…
    Cheers!

How quiet was your neighborhood last night???

  23. Tomas says:

It would be interesting to see an update of the map.

Guess you forgot to include “profoundly stupid people” and “violent retards” on your legend…
