St. Patrick's Day

Savage Chickens - St. Patrick's Day

And hey it looks like I'll need to have an extra pint of Guinness today to celebrate this, my 300th cartoon. Crazy!

Update: Here's another St. Patrick's Day.

Congratulations! I'll have a pint of guinness with you. In the meantime let's have a pint of guinness just because we can.

Haha I love that one too :)

Very simple, and chickens are always a funny (But thought provoking) medium.

Very funny stuff. I would like to see an incredible chick hulk. Your cartoons have a "far side" kind of flavor that makes me laugh.

Chekc out my site to learn more about who St. Patrick was before you drink so much guinness in his honor you can't read. :)

Have a good one.

Only 700 more before the experiment is complete!

P.S. You are intentionally being kept in the dark about the outcome of the experiment! Keep up the progress!

Hi,

You have a really cool thing going.

Have you tried to go get yourself really SYNDICATED.
comics.com, ucomics.com & kingfeatures.com are some of the big names in comic syndication. You really could be a professional.

The sketch is neat and simple and the concept is unique.

Hey thanks to everybody for the great comments!

Thanks for the links, Hunt - I am working on syndication possibilities so we'll see! In the mean time if anybody wants to see Savage Chickens in their local paper, feel free to email them to let them know!

Happy belated Paddy's Day (it's past midnight already in Dublin). I've enjoyed your cartoons enormously since I just discovered you yesterday after setting up my own blog. Anyway, I just want to say the use of colour in this one is awesome! You should try having more colours in your cartoons - I'd love to see other highlighter colours being used on your chickens!

And oh yes, I second the suggestion of having a desktop calendar, I'd be one of the first to buy it!!

At March 17, 2006 5:36 PM, Blogger Doug Savage said...

Thanks Snowdrops! Glad you liked the dash of colour. But that's no highlighter - I actually drew that chicken on a bright green sticky note, cut it out very carefully, and stuck it onto the yellow one!

Doug, Best wishes on the first 300 and we lift a toast to the next of what we hope are many, many more chicken adventures in the future.

wait..either/or? surely there are more than two possible reasons why the chicken is green.
3) he really REALLY needs to blow his beak
4) he's actually a piece of broccoli carved to LOOK like a chicken
5) the chicken is on a rough cruise without any dramamine
6) he caught a really bad case of "chicken mold"
7) farrrr too many lime freeze pops
8) he angered a witch, and she said "OK, you're green from now on" and he was
9) at birth, he stayed a little to long in the egg. Actually, a LOT too long
10) no one knows why, he's just green
11) perhaps the chicken world's absolute sloppiest painter, and he just finished painting the coop green
