Cilantro tastes like dish soap…does that make it the spice of kids that cuss?

  2. robin says:

mmmm… you’re right, marjoram does kind of taste like soapy oregano.
I think the spice of death should be that fish sauce they always add to the thai recipes. The stuff sure SMELLS dead!

That’s cool, I LOL but it brings up the next question …what is the spice of working?

  4. Dinana says:

Yeah…I never use marjoram on chichen…doesn’t taste good…

  5. Capt. Obvious says:

No, no, no…the spice of death is MONOTONY, not marjoram. Cos even chickens who’ve never tasted marjoram still meet the Reaper.

  6. Seraphine says:

i hate curry. it smells like stale perspiration.

  7. Trog says:

Marjoram is created by the sandworms and mined by a guy wearing a little tiny speedo.

I’ve always wondered what marjoram was for, I’ve had some sitting in my cupboard forever and never used it. Now I know!

  9. Luwano says:

    Amen to that!

I wonder what the story behind this cartoon is. Have you been trying some new recipes, Doug?

Hey, now, I like marjoram. I just made a big pot of lentil soup the other day, and marjoram is great in that.

  11. iammonicasue says:

I have to agree with Jeff. But I think Cilantro is the spice of death. Tastes like soapy nastiness.

  12. Bella says:

I think Rosemary is the nastiest spice ever. Bleh! I’ve never had marjoram, but it doesn’t sound very appetizing either.

  13. LJ says:

Wow, I am glad that someone else thinks marjoram tastes like soap. The first time I used it, I thought that I must have forgotten to rinse the soap out of my pan or something, started the dish all over, only to achieve the same soapy ickiness. I just use oregano whenever I see marjoram called for, now.

  14. Anita says:

Apparently it’s not marjoram that tastes like soap, it’s actually soap that tastes, or rather smells, like marjoram.

I’ve had the same experience as many of you and after a little research found out that “Marjoram’s fragrance is still prized by perfume and soap makers” and that “Sweet marjoram was used as a room freshener and is used to scent lotions, soaps and creams”. Phew…I can finally rest assured, that it’s not my taste buds that have gone nuts…. 😉

  15. Web Guy says:

    hahah soapy oregano. soooo true.

  16. lmao i think it’s the other way no? Soap taste and smells like marjoram? since that is what a lot of manufacturers use to make soap and fragrances
