I haven’t blasted that particular one, but I am guilty of playing my classical music rather loud in the car. It is just better that way! Great cartoon!

I once pulled up to a red light alongside a sports car that was blasting something from 50-cent. When I looked over, the young man and I made eye contact. He turned the volume down a bit. I turned my own stereo to full volume, and a crescendo from “O Fortuna” filled the air. I looked back over to the sports car and cocked an eyebrow. The young man nodded and gave me a “not bad” look. Then the light turned green and we went on our separate ways.

Ok, one of my favorite TV scenes – from a mediocre TV show – Knight Rider. Devon is driving down some country highway in a Mercedes convertible, and the stereo is blasting some kind of Mozart or other classical music. He is completely in the law, but the redneck cop pulls him over, breaks his tail light, jails him … and Devon uses his skills to get away! It is definite classic!

I’ve never passed you on the road I guess – oh wait, I was blasting Haydn not Chopin.

  4. Jonniez says:

I’ve blasted classical in my car before, actually…

  5. Machtyn says:

Or almost anything from Tchaickovsky. Bonus points for the 1812 Overture.

  6. willwot says:

I am with you on that one although I think that the car could have been lowered giving it a real hipster look.

  7. SharonW says:

Chopin? Nah. Beethoven works much better for blasting everybody within six blocks.

  8. Scooby D. Labbé says:

I prefer Schubert’s Impromptu Op. 90, #4 for blasting from the car stereo.

  9. Oracle says:

Well, well, well. Someone’s been reading Fifty Shades!

  10. James says:

I’ve often thought nearly the same thing. For me though, it would be Puccini’s Turandot.

  11. belphebe says:

I used to crank up Ravel’s Bolero on my drive home from work.

Fear not Doug, If I ever get a nice booming car stereo this will happen, no question…

  13. Doug says:

Wow! I’m glad to hear that so many of you are blasting classical music while you drive – if only you lived in my neighbourhood!

I’d be happy with ANY good music at all, but all of the stereo dudes around here seem to have a different idea about what makes music blast-worthy 🙂

  14. Meri says:

Great piece of music. Hard to rock out to though 🙂 Some of us rock out to classical, it’s usually a Beethoven or Brahms symphony however. I’ll have to try a little Chopin.

  15. Chip Camden says:

Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

  16. Ill Bill says:

Yea, I’m guilty of bringing this musical piece up on You Tube. It’s great that someone already left a comment there saying “Savage Chickens”.

  17. Gwenny says:

Many years ago my teenage son tested his new stereo using Beethoven’s Fifth.

  18. Agunia says:

I see that Chopin is well-known not only in Japan and Poland.

I had friends into the doof doof subwoofer culture. Over time as they upgraded their gear I got all the hand me down parts. So it was that I ended up frequently driving down the cool strip in town, in my beat up rusty hatch back, with an obscenely loud stereo and a subwoofer that took up the whole boot, blasting ride of the Valkyries or Beethoven’s fifth. Good times.

  20. Simon says:

Love this! I’ve blasted Beethoven in my convertible with the top down so I can relate :3.

  21. Cicatrice says:

This would happen in France ;? a famous hip-hop band, NTM, used some samples in its track “That’s my people” (1998). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88tsEjceu78
