Or… every meal could be a surprise!

I’ll take a Rouladen, thanks! Every day is Christmas for your mouth. Some times the surprise is good, sometimes it disappointing, but there will always be anticipation to see what arrives on your plate. 🙂

You should come to Vienna for proper Wiener* Schnitzel. 🙂

If you’re in Bavaria try Weisswurst (“white sausage”), if you’re in Berlin try Currywurst. And generally maybe Döner Kebab.

    * Wiener means Viennese (Wien = Vienna)

Wienerschnitzel is, um, Austrian (Wien = Vienna).

To keep it German, ask for “Schnitzel a la Holstein.” It’s sehr yummy.

    🙂

When I lived in Mainz, I would occasionally treat myself to “Schnitzel mit Berner rösti.” Sehr lecker!

I went to Vienna once, but I never found the place where they stuff those little sausages into the can. 😛

And remember: A man with a handlebar mustache in a Deli generally takes a turn for the Würst.

I visited Munich in 1992 with friends. We found a little restaurant on our first night. We spoke little German, and our waitress spoke almost no English. One of my friends asked her to explain a word on the menu: hausfrauenart. She thought for a moment, then smiled and said “Like your Mother makes!” My friend’s response: “Oh god, I hope not!”

I once ordered the longest unpronounceable item on a menu I went back to Wienerschnitzel diet.
