Win a Finnish copy of Savage Chickens book!
The fine folks at Perigee Books sent me some copies of the Finnish-language edition of Savage Chickens: A Survival Kit for Life in the Coop, so I’m going to give away a signed copy!
To enter, leave a comment on this post, or send me a note via my contact page. I’ll choose a random winner on Saturday September 8. (Please enter only if you can actually read Finnish!)
This is the first time I’ve had a chance to see the inside of the Finnish edition and it looks great. I’m particularly amazed by how closely they matched my hand-drawn lettering. Fantastic work, Gummerus!
If you don’t win, you can still buy it online. And there’s always the English and German versions, for you non-Finnish types.

Well hello!! I clearly need to win a copy, being of the Finnish type and all. 🙂
I actually don’t think I deserve to win one since I didn’t even know this was translated into Finnish. My apologies, olen pahoillani.
Not a Finnish speaker myself, but our exchange student Saara would no doubt be delighted.
I don’t speak finnish yet, I just started to learn it a few weeks ago. So it would be nice learning material…
Kokeilen onneani!
My grandfather is Swedish, his mom was Finn. He is tri-lingual (English, Swedish, Finn) I think he’d love this!
Pick me! I’m married to a Finn!
My son loves all Scandinavian languages. He’s studying Icelandic at the moment, but Finnish is definitely on his list. He’d love this.
Am Finnish-American and have several Finnish relatives/friends who would enjoy your chickens in the native language as much as I do in English (although I can get along speaking Finn, I read/write the language poorly!).
If I win I will learn Finnish just so I can read and I won’t use my English copy to cheat either. Promises, promises.
Haluaisin voitta kirjan, ja osaan jo suomea!
I have a Finn friend, who is going through some extremely difficult times. This would cheer her up!
I’m just a random guy, not a random winner.
WTF…I need this.
Send it my way. Not only will I use it for my own amusement but will also educate my local friends about Finnish.
A Finn here! I could use a copy. Konttorikanat seems like a clever translation of the title.
Me win?
Finnish and English, no problem! I just wanna get that book!
Native Finnish speaker here – I would love to win the book. Although because of the possible translation error on the cover (we can fight over whether it’s a misunderstanding of the original or a creative use of onomatopoeia later), I’m a bit sceptical about how well Gummerus has managed to translate the rest of the comic. Let’s hope I get proven wrong. 🙂
By the way, did you know that the book can also be found in the public libraries of at least Jyväskylä, Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Rovaniemi and Tampere?
Tähän on pakko osallistua; I would very much love to win this one. Pick me, pick me! 🙂
Greetings, from your Finnish fan
Hi, I´m a huge fan of the chickens from Finland! I would definitely pass the book around at the office and share the fun! I have a printed version of the “in today´s economy doing more with less is not enough” -comic on my wall and it has aroused a lot of laughs… 🙂
Mulle kiitti:)
Wow I am surprised by how many people here are related to a Finnish person in a way. 🙂 Unfortunately, I only know Danes, Swedish, Norwegians and Icelanders.
And I only understand Danish, so I will be waiting for the book to come out in this language(s) or Bulgarian.. whatever happens first. 🙂
Yeah, pick me! Konttorikanat viihdyttää työpäiviäni.
Fantastista!
Greetings from a finnish cubicle!
I just love the “Konttorikanat”! It would be a nice way for my husband to learn some more of my mothertongue 😉
I’m from Finland and I’m a huge fan of yours 🙂 Konttorikanat was so much fun!
I’m a Finn, I live in Helsinki and I once sent you a link to a bookstore where I saw this book in Finnish. I’m already translating your comics in Finnish whenever my 6yo son wants to know what the comic is about. His favorite is Godzilla.
Minä, minä, minä! Minulle, minulle, minulle!
Minulle kirja!!1 🙂
This is me, trying my luck!
Mulle tämä!
That’s amazing!
I can also read English and German, but since this one is free…
I can’t read finnish, but I’m learning Chinese? Does that counting? ??-??
Finnish? I haven’t even started!
Would definitely love to read these in Finnish, especially since I’m quite curious on the translations. Lately I only seem to be reading in English, anyway.
This would be something I could use to entice other Finns to the world of the Chickens! 🙂
I live in an area where most of the people have Finnish heritage, so this would be very amusing. 🙂
I would pass this along to my Finnish friend 🙂
Common Konttorikanat! You always manage to hit the nail on the head with prod. Yksi kirja kiitos!
Wow it’s great to get so many comments and emails about this! I had no idea so many Finnish people read Savage Chickens! 🙂
This would make a terrific Christmas present for my mom! I’d have to “borrow” it of course!
Here’s another devoted Savage Chickens fan from Finland! I need that book! 🙂
Thanks for an excellent cartoon Doug!
Pick me! I’m an Estonian, so me winning would probably annoy some Finns! Also, I dig Finnish language and comics (Timo Kokkila’s Peräsmies was legendary, I especially dug the evil Toveri Pieru).
I knew a guy named Finn once… does that qualify?
Your comics are legendary!
I’m torn between craving this physical item and my principle of owning as few of them as possible (I like my reading e-). Also, Godzilla’s my favorite too, and I just turned 33!
Is it too late to participate? Hopefully not, I’d soooo much like a copy of the book 🙂 *finngers crossed*
Me me!!!’ pls!! Im a cubicle worker and i want that book!!!!
Congratulatons Ryan E. and Shane A. !!!
