Emily Con 2013On Saturday, September 28, I’ll be appearing at this year’s Emily Con, a day of comics fun at Emily Carr University of Art + Design here in Vancouver, BC.

Stop by my table to say Hi and I’ll draw you a sticky note – and I’ll be selling lots of chicken stuff, and my cat-related books, T-shirts, and buttons (which are still not available on the website!). And from 1 PM – 2 PM, I’ll be participating in a panel discussion called Make Your Own Damn Comic, with fellow artists Colin Upton and Jeff Ellis. Everybody should be making their own comics. We’ll tell you why!

Admission is FREE! More details on Facebook…

Doug on InstagramHere’s a little social media update. I recently started putting the daily comics up on Tumblrfollow me on Tumblr to see the daily chickens via your Tumblr feed, along with other stuff such as photos and links to things that inspire me. I’ve also started posting photos on Instagram, so follow me there if you’d like to see behind-the-scenes photos of my drawing process, or if you’d like to see way too many pictures of my cats!

I’m also slowly getting the hang of Facebook. And I’m still on Twitter, Flickr, and Google+. And my archives are running on GoComics, which is also now available via the cool GoComics app!

OpusAttention Vancouverites! I’m doing a free workshop in a few weeks at Opus Art Supplies, at the downtown Vancouver location. It’s called Working on the Web and I’ll be talking about how awesome it is to be an artist on the web and how you should be doing it too. I’ll be offering practical advice about how and why to put your art online, and I’ll tell some crazy stories along the way. If you’re a creative person and you’ve been thinking about putting your work online, then this is the session for you!

The workshop is on July 25 from 2 PM to 4 PM. Seating is limited, so sign up now!

If you have any questions about the session, leave a comment here or send it to me.
