IT’S OFFICIAL: The book is here!
Thank you! Thank you all for reading the chickens. Six years ago, I put the first sticky note online, and I never imagined I would get so much encouragement and support, or that it would lead to a Savage Chickens book.
WIN a Signed Copy of the Book – TODAY
Just leave a comment below OR sign up for chickens by email. I’ll choose a random winner at 6PM Pacific time.
And Special Thanks To…
A special thanks goes out to: Danielle Svetcov, my agent at Levine Greenberg; my fantastic editor Maria Gagliano; book designer Nellys Li; publicists Kaitlyn Kennedy and Trish Bunnett; and the whole crew at Perigee Books and Penguin USA.
More Goodies Are to Come
To celebrate the launch of the book, I’ll be giving away Savage Chickens stuff all month, so please keep an eye on the site for more details. (A good way to do this is to sign up for chickens by email or follow me on Twitter.)
And again, many many thanks to all of you. Cheers! Doug
Update: Winner announced!
The winner of my sixth anniversary contest is… Niels Hansen! Congrats Niels! You win one of my personal copies of Savage Chickens: A Survival Kit for Life in the Coop, signed by me, plus a hand-drawn copy of your favourite 3″ x 3″ Savage Chickens cartoon, drawn on a sticky note.
The three runner-up winners (who will receive a Savage Chickens coffee mug of their choice) are: Craig, Henri, and Vepxvi. All winners should have received emails from me in the last few minutes asking about their mug choices.
Thanks to everybody who participated in the contest! And don’t worry, there will be many more opportunities to win Savage Chickens stuff soon when the book is officially launched in March. I’ll keep you posted!
Also thanks for all of the wonderful comments about my sixth year of chickening. Many of you said extremely nice things that I really appreciate, and thanks also for pointing out your favourite cartoons from the past year. Some of them made my long list and some were surprises; some of the common favourites that didn’t make the top ten lists were: Trouble at the Moisture Farm, Mutual, Never Gonna, Very Dangerous, From the Fiery Depths, Waiting Game, Captcha, Hang in There, True Love, and the entire cat adventure series.
Update: Winners announced!
To help celebrate Savage Chickens’ sixth anniversary, and to thank you for your support, I’m going to give away one of my personal copies of Savage Chickens: A Survival Kit for Life in the Coop, signed by me. And I’ll include a hand-drawn copy of your favourite 3″ x 3″ Savage Chickens cartoon, drawn on a sticky note and stuck inside the book.
There are two ways to win:
1. Sign up for my daily chicken email, or
2. Add a comment to this post or this post telling me which cartoon was your favourite one from the past year.
I’ll draw a random winner for the book on Sunday. And I’ll also draw three runner-up winners who will receive a Savage Chickens coffee mug of their choice.
Well, I received over a thousand entries for the Halloween Contest this year and they were better than ever. Popular recurring themes included: dead end jobs, Hansel and Gretel, kids meals made from kids, Harry Potter, loads of newt eyes, MacBeth, and plenty of chicken burger cannibalism! It was very difficult to choose winners, but here they are…
