Lennie
A year ago, the world lost veteran actor Jerry Orbach, best known for playing detective Lennie Briscoe on Law and Order. So make sure you catch a Law and Order rerun today! Or even better: make a donation to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Don’t we all miss him?
I just said this the other day. And I was eating grilled chicken for dinner, too.
Jerry Orbach was a first-rate, top-notch actor. TV, Broadway and the movies lost one of their very best. But, even more than that, Mr. Orbach was one of the very few public personalities that you felt sure it would be a real pleasure to meet. I’d like to extend my deepest sympathy to his family and friends (and I’ll bet he had a LOT of the latter.) We’re all greatly diminished by his passing.
If there is a heaven, I know Lennie’s making wisecracks and ensuring that the Law’s upheld there.
Classy entry today, Doug. I like your style. Jerry Orbach and his crew got me through some tough evenings a few years ago after my father died. His brand of crusty, seen-it-all optimism in the face of bad news really reassured me somehow. You’d have to be optimistic under there somewhere to do Lennie’s job, right?
