To help celebrate Savage Chickens’ sixth anniversary, and to thank you for your support, I’m going to give away one of my personal copies of Savage Chickens: A Survival Kit for Life in the Coop, signed by me. And I’ll include a hand-drawn copy of your favourite 3″ x 3″ Savage Chickens cartoon, drawn on a sticky note and stuck inside the book.

Creating the cover was a lot of fun for me. I worked with the awesome Nellys Li, a senior designer from Penguin USA’s Putnam Art Department in NYC. We came up with a bunch of ideas. I mailed Nellys some sketches on sticky notes and she took photos of them in office settings, but that didn’t quite look right so we tried some hand-drawn covers instead. Along the way, we got valuable input from my editor, the publisher, and the sales team. Nellys combined elements from a couple of my drawings to create the final cover above.

Hey everybody – I’ve got some great news! I’ve got a book deal with Perigee Books, a division of Penguin Group USA! I’m really excited to be working with editor Maria Gagliano and the whole Perigee team.
Thanks to all of you readers for being so supportive over the years – it’s great to finally be putting together a book for you. And a big thank-you goes out to my agent Danielle for getting the chickens out there.
